OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — The Oklahoma Republican Party State Committee today unanimously passed a resolution requesting that the Oklahoma State Legislature officially declare September 10 as a state holiday in memory of Charlie Kirk, a devoted Christian, husband, father, patriot, and national leader in the conservative movement.
The resolution recognizes Kirk’s courage in the face of hostility, his steadfast Christian faith, and his lifelong commitment to inspiring America’s youth to embrace truth, freedom, and personal responsibility. The Committee noted Kirk’s lasting influence through his leadership and his role in helping countless young people find faith in Christ.
“Charlie Kirk’s voice challenged, inspired, and lifted up a generation of young conservatives,” said Charity Linch, Chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party. “He stood fearlessly for truth, faith, and freedom—even at great personal risk. His life and legacy deserve to be remembered, and we believe setting aside September 10 as a holiday is a fitting tribute.”
Chairman Linch also told the State Committee, “We are on this Earth in this time to be a light and fight the darkness with prayer, truth, and action—just like Charlie did. America and the world lost a hero, but heaven gained a martyr.”
The Oklahoma Republican Party calls upon the Oklahoma Legislature to move swiftly to adopt this recognition, ensuring future generations are reminded annually of Kirk’s unwavering courage and his dedication to faith and country.
