OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Republican Party held its Winter 2026 State Committee meeting on Saturday, January 31, 2026. During the gathering, the Committee reaffirmed its commitment to core conservative principles and the Oklahoma Republican Platform, while addressing several pressing matters facing our state and nation.
The State Committee voted to censure Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt. Mayor Holt has repeatedly contradicted and undermined the values enshrined in the Oklahoma Republican Platform. His positions and actions have consistently diverged from the principles our party holds dear, including limited government, traditional values, and fidelity to Republican ideals. The censure reflects the Committee’s determination to hold elected officials accountable to the platform that unites our party.
In a separate resolution, the Committee called upon Governor Kevin Stitt and the Oklahoma Legislature to take decisive action by classifying the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) as terrorist organizations. These groups have documented ties and associations that raise serious concerns about their activities and influence. Designating them appropriately would protect Oklahomans and align with efforts in other states to address potential threats to national and state security.
The Oklahoma Republican Party expressed firm opposition to State Question 832, the proposed $15 minimum wage initiative set for the June 2026 ballot. This measure would impose drastic wage hikes on businesses across the state, threatening job growth, small business viability, and economic freedom in Oklahoma. Mandating such increases—phased up to $15 per hour by 2029 and tied to urban cost-of-living indexes—ignores the realities of our diverse economy and risks higher unemployment and business closures, particularly in rural and lower-cost areas.
The Committee strongly endorsed House Joint Resolution 1040 (HJR 1040). This resolution, introduced by Representative Gabe Woolley and supported by Senator David Bullard, would amend the Oklahoma Constitution to explicitly prohibit Oklahoma courts from applying or considering Sharia law, international law, or other foreign legal systems in judicial decisions. It reaffirms that Oklahoma courts must adhere solely to the U.S. Constitution, the Oklahoma Constitution, federal and state laws, and established common law—protecting our sovereignty and individual rights.
Additionally, the Committee voiced strong support for Senate Bill 1762 (SB 1762), Senator Shane Jett’s bill to uphold the Oklahoma Constitution. This measure underscores the party’s unwavering opposition to any legal system incompatible with American constitutional principles and serves as a clear statement against ideologies that threaten our freedoms and way of life.
The Committee also passed a resolution opposing SQ 836 and the “open primaries” that would destroy the current primary process in Oklahoma.
“The Oklahoma Republican Party remains steadfast in defending the values that make our state strong: faith, family, freedom,” said Charity Linch, Oklahoma Republican Party Chairman. “These actions from our Winter State Committee meeting send a clear message that we will hold leaders accountable, protect our citizens, and fight against policies that undermine our economy and constitutional order.”
The Oklahoma Republican Party urges all Oklahomans to stay engaged, support conservative candidates and causes, and oppose measures like State Question 832 that would harm working families and businesses.
