On Saturday, January 31, 2026, the Oklahoma State Committee met in Oklahoma City at Higher Plain Baptist Church, and passed a resolution supporting House Joint Resolution 1040. This resolution, introduced by Representative Gabe Woolley and supported by Senator David Bullard, would amend the Oklahoma Constitution to explicitly prohibit Oklahoma courts from applying or considering Sharia law, international law, or other foreign legal systems in judicial decisions. It reaffirms that Oklahoma courts must adhere solely to the U.S. Constitution, the Oklahoma Constitution, federal and state laws, and established common law—protecting our sovereignty and individual rights.
